Globe Guide

Selecting The Right Globe Colour Temperature For Your Room & Function.

Lighting is everything when it comes to interior design. It plays a big role as to how you perceive and experience a space as it dramatically affects the appearance of geometry and affects our mood and emotion. A good lighting plan depends on the correct characters of the light source and how we distribute it in a room.

Globe Temperatures

Lighting plays a big role as to how you perceive and experience a space as it dramatically affects the appearance of geometry and affects our mood and emotion.

Lower Temperature

2700-3000 Kelvin.

Also known as warm white. It creates a cosier, calm, inviting and intimate atmosphere. Recommended for lounge, dining room, bedroom, entrance, kitchen island lighting, cabinet lighting and entertainment areas/patios.

Neutral Temperature

4000-5000 Kelvin.

Cool white/neutral white. Gives out a slight blue wave making you feel vibrant, focused and awake. This gives you the perfect balance of alertness without giving your home a “Hospital Feeling”. Recommended for kitchen, undercounter lighting, scullery, pantry, study/ home office, bedside table, wardrobe, bathroom/ bathroom mirrors and garages.

Daylight Temperature

5000-6500 Kelvin.

With its crisp and invigorating daylight colour, this light creates a clean and alert colour temperature that can appear stark and clinical. Recommended for kitchen, outdoor security lighting, garages, office spaces, hospitals or other commercial uses. Daylight is also recommended for highlighting artwork and sculptural pieces, scullery, pantry, study/ home office, bedside table or wardrobe

Don’t be afraid to use different colour temperature globes in one room, this will allow you to switch between lighting for different applications and occasions. You can achieve this by placing different temperature globes, in different fittings, on separate switching. This works exceptionally well in open-plan living spaces.
