Coloured Globes

It’s common practice and knowledge that warm lighting can create cosey and relaxing environments while cool lighting encourages focus and keeps you alert and awake. Zebbies offer plenty of non-traditional light colour options to take advantage of with mood lighting to impact the way you interact with your home.

Colour can have incredible results on how it affects our feelings, function and activity. It can also vary in perception from culture to culture. As a general guide, to help you experiment in your home, here are a few examples…

Blue Light

Limiting screen time before bed is a common recommendation because most screens emit a blue light. Using blue lights in the morning can help wake you up. Blue is also known to promote feelings of relaxation and stability.

Green Light

Has been found to improve reading ability and retention making it a great choice for home offices and study time. Green is also known to enhance healing.

Purple Light

Soft and non-threatening colours are often associated with feelings of love and innocence and has been found to decrease aggression. These powerful colours are often used to reduce emotional and mental stress and can also assist you in falling asleep.

Yellow Light

We associate yellow with the colour of the sun and spring flowers which brings us joy and happiness which is why it’s been clinically used to treat depression. We like to use Yellow in our outdoor lights in the winter months and if you live in a particularly ‘grey’ area, use it indoors in winter too! However, Yellow is a sensitive colour and too much of it can negatively impact your mood and there are even studies that have shown that babies cry more in rooms lit with yellow.

Red Light

Has been found to improve reading ability and retention making it a great choice for home offices and study time. Green is also known to enhance healing.

Using colours in the home can be tricky, especially in a neutral home, as they can dramatically change your home so we recommend experimenting with them in a standing lamp or side table until you are comfortable making more permanent decisions.

Additionally, utilising coloured globes in your outdoors can elevate your garden and can be used to contrast against your home’s exterior design.
